Lifestyle photography aims to capture a slice of everyday life.

We are not about that studio-lit, staged-poses, forced smiles kind of photography. We work creatively to capture moments that are timeless and true to you.

This is the only kind of photography we offer for families and children, as we believe your little ones will be at their most silliest, giggliest and happiest when thy get to behave as children do!

WHAT TO WEAR FOR A LIFESTYLE PORTRAIT?
CLOTHING
When planning your family session, it’s important to consider what to wear.
For newborns or small infants, we suggest something comfortable and breathable—a wrap, a onesie or a fabric nappy cover should do the trick.
For toddlers, similar logic applies; dress them in comfortable, casual and breathable clothing.
Likewise, for adults, comfortable clothing also makes sense. Choose something you often wear, an item that you feel like ‘you’ in!
COLOURS

You may also want to think about a colour palette. Do you want neutral tones, monochromatic shades of one colour or a complementary mix?
If you’re having trouble deciding, talk to us, and we’re more than happy to lend some ideas.

COORDINATION
While your colour palette can help to create a coordinated look, you don't want to be too matchy-matchy. If you all dress exactly the same, you will lose your individual personalities.
If everyone is wearing the same colours, try to mix in different fabric textures to break up the monotomy. Examples include a mix of denim, knits, linen, cotton, silk or velvet.
THE PROCESS
We will likely spend about 1.5 hours together during your session shooting, allowing some additional time for breaks as needed.
We will offer some prompts and directions to keep the session flowing, but will avoid staging any moments.
We’d much rather you sit, play and have fun as a family and allow us to compose and click as we go.
Following your session, we edit each individual image.
It takes us about 2-4 weeks to edit a full gallery.

These images are colour corrected and retouched so you can have art of the highest quality. We will deliver your online gallery via a digital link.
You can easily download all of your images on a deskptop or laptop computer, or individually on mobile.
Please don’t screenshot images, as this will reduce their quality significantly, and your little ones deserve that high-res goodness!
ADVICE FOR NEWBORNS & TODDLERS
During newborn sessions, it’s best to feed your baby about fifteen minutes before we begin so they are a little sleepy and milk-drunk.
We will likely need to take a few breaks so they can be fed and comforted as needed. If you wish, we can capture these moments as a part of the session - that's what lifestyle photography is all about!
Keep the room warm for your newborn, especially if they are undressed for the photos.

We do not provide outfits, backdrops or props, as we do not 'stage' our photos. If you have a particular blanket or toy with special meaning, we do recommend having it on hand for the photos.
Lastly, avoid putting any lotions on their skin, as this will make editing challenging.
Toddlers have short attention spans. We will take family photos first, when your toddler is still engaged.
If we are taking sibling photos during your newborn session, have realistic expectations about how comfortable your toddler is interacting with your baby. If your toddler is scared to hold or touch your newborn, we won’t risk tears or tantrums by forcing that onto them!
